CVE-2024-26848

None

No severity ratings or metrics are available. When they are, we'll update the corresponding info on the page.
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to an endless loop in directory parsing. If a directory contains a block with only ". afsXXXX" files from an uncompleted silly-rename, these files are skipped without advancing the file position in the dir context, leading to the afs dir iterate() function repeating the block again and again. The symptoms include a soft lockup, with the CPU stuck for an extended period. The fix involves making the code that skips the ". afsXXXX" file also manually advance the file position.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
