CVSS v2.0

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to a possible buffer overflow in the Bluetooth component of the Linux kernel. Specifically, the struct hci dev info has a fixed size name[8] field, which can cause strcpy to attempt to write past its size if hdev->name is bigger than that. This problem is fixed by switching to use strscpy.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
