Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Ultimate Member – User Profile, Registration, Login, Member Directory, Content Restriction & Membership Plugin plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.8.4
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping, specifically via the
Skype and Spotify URL parameters. This allows authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.8.4, update to a version higher than 2.8.4 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
Skype and Spotify URL parameters to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
