Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
AnnounceKit plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.0.9
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via admin settings due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages, which will execute when a user accesses an injected page. The issue affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered html has been disabled.
Recommendations
For AnnounceKit plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.0.9, update to a version higher than 2.0.9 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting administrator-level permissions and enabling unfiltered html to minimize the risk of exploitation.
