Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Ocean Extra plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.2.6
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The
twitter username parameter is specifically vulnerable to this type of attack.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.2.6, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue to prevent Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks via the
twitter username parameter. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the twitter username parameter or limiting contributor-level permissions to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
