CVE-2024-35968

CVSS v2.0

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue arises when the driver attempts to perform a PCI reset on itself via pci reset function() in the context of the driver's health thread, while pdsc reset prepare calls pdsc stop health thread(), resulting in a deadlock. This occurs because the stop/flush will never complete since the driver called pci reset function() from the health thread context. The fix involves changing the pdsc check pci health function() to queue a newly introduced pdsc pci reset thread() on the pdsc's work queue. Unloading the driver in the fw down/dead state uncovered another issue related to preventing the devcmd reset if the FW is not running.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
