Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Elementor Addons by Livemesh plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 8.3.7
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's Marquee Text Widget, Testimonials Widget, and Testimonial Slider widgets due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 8.3.7, update to a version higher than 8.3.7 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Marquee Text Widget, Testimonials Widget, and Testimonial Slider widgets to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, ensure that all user-supplied attributes are properly sanitized and escaped to prevent arbitrary web script injection.
