CVE-2024-36494

CVSS v3.1

4.7

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:N/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions SoftwareX versions (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is due to missing input sanitization, allowing an attacker to perform cross-site-scripting attacks and run arbitrary JavaScript in the browser of other users. The login page at "/cgi/slogin.cgi" suffers from reflected XSS due to improper input filtering of the -tsetup+-uuser parameter. This can only be exploited if the target user is not already logged in, making it ideal for login form phishing attempts.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the /cgi/slogin.cgi endpoint until a patch is available. Avoid using the -tsetup+-uuser parameter in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved.
