Description
A Buffer Overflow issue allows a local attacker to execute arbitrary code via a crafted .yaml file to the nav2 planner process. This enables the attacker to potentially gain control over the system. The issue is present in the ROS2 navigation2 component.
Recommendations
For Open Robotic Robotic Operating System 2 (ROS2) versions navigation2-humble, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the nav2 planner process until a patch is available. Restrict access to the navigation2 component to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using crafted .yaml files in the affected nav2 planner process until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
