Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to the nilfs2 file system in the Linux kernel. The error handling in
nilfs empty dir() is incorrect, which can cause the file system to be corrupted if a directory folio/page read fails. Additionally, if the i size of the directory's inode is also corrupted, it can lead to a long loop with I/O, causing the log writer thread to wait and hang. The problem is fixed by making nilfs empty dir() immediately return a false value if it fails to get a directory folio/page.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
