CVE-2024-40938

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the landlock feature in the Linux kernel. A problem can occur when trying to link a root mount point, triggering a WARN ON ONCE() in collect domain accesses(). This happens because the VFS check is performed after the call to security path link(), and the directory is already mounted. To address this, the source directory's d parent should not be used when the source directory is the mount point.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
