Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to the ext4 file system in the Linux kernel. The function
ext4 xattr set entry() creates new EA inodes while holding a buffer lock on the external xattr block. This can lead to a deadlock when the file system is corrupted and the quota file is set up to contain an xattr block as a data block. The allocation of EA inodes has been moved out of ext4 xattr set entry() to prevent this issue.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
