Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.10.0-rc5+
Description
The issue is related to insufficient input validation in the netfilter component of the Linux kernel, specifically in the
nf tables rule release(), nft chain validate(), nft chain validate hooks(), and nft validate register store() functions. This can lead to a denial of service. The problem arises from the old loop detection code, which can result in unbounded recursion and a call stack overflow. The nft chain validate() function already performs loop detection, making the nf tables check loops() function and its helpers unnecessary.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
