Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel version 6.8.0-syzkaller-05271-gf99c5f563c17
Description
The vulnerability is related to the xdp component of the Linux kernel. It is caused by incorrect error handling in the
xdp reg mem model() function. The warning occurs only if mem id init hash table() returns an error, which happens in two cases: memory allocation fails or rhashtable init() fails when some fields of rhashtable params struct are not initialized properly. However, the second case cannot happen since there is a static const rhashtable params struct with valid fields. Thus, the warning is only triggered when there is a problem with memory allocation. The issue was found by the Linux Verification Center with syzkaller.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
