Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to the IB/core component of the Linux kernel, where the existing behavior of ib umad maintaining received MAD packets in an unbounded list poses a risk of uncontrolled growth. This can lead to potential list overflow as user-space applications extract packets from the list at a rate that may not match the rate of incoming packets. To address this, a limit to the size of the list has been introduced, with a limit of 200k packets. Packets received beyond this limit are dropped, assuming they are likely timed out by the time they are handled by user-space.
