CVE-2024-42250

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the cachefiles component of the Linux kernel, where a missing lock protection in the poll routine when iterating xarray can lead to a denial of service. Even with the RCU read lock held, the data structure stored in the slot of the radix tree has no guarantee of being pinned, and the poll routine will iterate the radix tree and dereference the cachefiles req structure accordingly. This requires a spinlock for adequate protection.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
