CVE-2024-42278

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.50
Description The issue is related to a NULL pointer dereference in the ASoC component of the Linux kernel. This occurs due to a reversed if statement in the tasdev load calibrated data() function, which can either be a no-op or lead to a NULL dereference, potentially causing a denial of service.
Recommendations To resolve the issue, update the Linux kernel to version 6.6.50 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the vulnerable tasdev load calibrated data() function until a patch is available.
