| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Comparison Slider plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.0.5
Description
The issue is due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on several functions hooked to AJAX actions, making it possible for unauthenticated attackers to change slider titles, delete sliders, and modify plugin settings via a forged request. This can be achieved if an attacker can trick a site administrator into performing an action, such as clicking on a link.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 1.0.5, update to a version that includes proper nonce validation to prevent Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the AJAX actions hooked to the vulnerable functions until a patch is available.
