Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Custom Post Type Attachment plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.4.5
Description:
The issue arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the
pdf attachment shortcode. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages. These scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations:
For versions up to, and including, 3.4.5, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue in the
pdf attachment shortcode.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the pdf attachment shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
