Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Shortcodes Ultimate plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 7.1.5
Description:
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'su members' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on the user-supplied
color attribute. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations:
For versions up to, and including, 7.1.5, update the plugin to a version later than 7.1.5 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
su members shortcode or disabling it until a patch is available. Additionally, restrict contributor-level access and above to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
