Description
The issue is related to a buffer overflow vulnerability in the Core component of Oracle VM VirtualBox, which can be exploited to execute arbitrary code and elevate privileges. This vulnerability can be easily exploited by a low-privileged attacker with logon access to the infrastructure where Oracle VM VirtualBox is executed, potentially leading to the compromise of Oracle VM VirtualBox and impacting additional products.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 7.0.16, update to version 7.0.16 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the vulnerable Core component until a patch is applied.
