Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to the KVM component of the Linux kernel, specifically on arm64 systems with a GICv3. If a guest hasn't been configured with GICv3 and the host is not capable of GICv2 emulation, a write to any of the ICC SGI EL1 registers is trapped to EL2, leading to a NULL pointer being hit when trying to emulate the SGI access. This can cause a denial of service. The fix involves giving the guest a UNDEF exception in such cases.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
