CVE-2024-46710

CVSS v3.1

4.7

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the drm/vmwgfx component in the Linux kernel, where the kms paths keep a persistent map active to read and compare the cursor buffer. These maps can race with each other, leading to a situation where the buffer is unmapped and the read contents are bogus. This occurs in a simple scenario where a buffer is mapped for update, then mapped for compare, and finally unmapped for compare and update. To prevent this, the kernel now keeps a count of how many paths have currently active maps and only unmaps when the count reaches 0.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
