CVE-2024-46752

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.52
Description The issue is related to the btrfs file system in the Linux kernel, where a BUG ON() has been replaced with error handling at update ref for cow(). This change is made to handle cases where an extent buffer belonging to the relocation tree does not have the full backref flag set, which is unexpected and should not happen unless there are bugs or bad memory.
Recommendations To resolve the issue, update to Linux kernel version 6.6.52 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the btrfs file system until a patch is available.
