Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to the handling of mailbox timeouts in the
lpfc get sfp info routine. The MBX TIMEOUT return code is not handled, and the routine unconditionally frees submitted mailbox commands regardless of return status. This can cause the mailbox memory region to reference previously freed memory in its cmpl routine when firmware returns SFP information at a later time. The fix involves adding checks for the MBX TIMEOUT return code and increasing the timeout from 30 to 60 seconds to accommodate boot scripts requiring longer timeouts.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
