Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
UberMenu plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.8.2
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the plugin's shortcodes, such as
ubermenu-col, ubermenu mobile close button, ubermenu toggle, and ubermenu-search. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages, which will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For UberMenu plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.8.2, update to a version higher than 3.8.2 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the shortcodes
ubermenu-col, ubermenu mobile close button, ubermenu toggle, and ubermenu-search to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
