CVSS v3.1
5.5
Medium
| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.58
Description
The issue is related to the ext4 file system in the Linux kernel, where the stripe size compatibility check is missed during remount, potentially leading to unforeseen bugs like divide by zero errors. This occurs when the stripe size is not a multiple of the cluster ratio, causing EXT4 B2C(sbi->s stripe) to become 0.
Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.58, update to version 6.6.58 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding remount operations that may trigger the stripe size compatibility issue until a patch is available.
