Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.58
Description
A memory leak issue has been identified in the Linux kernel's NFS daemon. The problem occurs when there is not enough buffer space available, but
idmap lookup has triggered lookup fn, which calls cache get and returns successfully, missing the call to cache put that pairs with cache get. This issue is related to the nfsd component and the xdr reserve space function.Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.58, update to version 6.6.58 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the
nfsd component until a patch is available.Exploit
