CVE-2024-4838

CVSS v3.1

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions ConvertPlus plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.5.26
Description The issue allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject a PHP Object via deserialization of untrusted input from the settings encoded attribute of the "smile modal" shortcode. If a POP chain is present via an additional plugin or theme installed on the target system, it could allow the attacker to delete arbitrary files, retrieve sensitive data, or execute code.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 3.5.26, update to a version that contains a fix for this issue to prevent PHP Object Injection. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the "smile modal" shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the settings encoded attribute in the affected shortcode until the issue is resolved.
