CVE-2024-26717

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to a NULL pointer dereference in the i2c hid of probe() function in the Linux kernel's HID device driver for I2C. This occurs when the I2C HID implementation is split into ACPI and OF parts, but the new OF driver fails to initialize the client pointer, which is then dereferenced on power-up failures. This could allow an attacker to cause a denial of service.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
