Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Custom Dash plugin for WordPress version 1.0.2 and earlier
Description
The Custom Dash plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via admin settings due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with administrator-level permissions and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This only affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered html has been disabled.
Recommendations
For versions 1.0.2 and earlier, update to a version later than 1.0.2 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to admin settings to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, review the configuration of multi-site installations and the status of unfiltered html to assess the potential impact.
Fix
