Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.58
Description:
The issue is related to a null pointer dereference in the Linux kernel, specifically in the drm/amd/pm module. The problem occurs when the fw info is not checked for null before being used, resulting in a null return value warning reported by Coverity. There is no information about the estimated number of potentially affected devices or real-world incidents where this issue was exploited.
Recommendations:
For versions prior to 6.6.58, update to version 6.6.58 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider adding null checks for the
fw info variable in the drm/amd/pm module to prevent null pointer dereferences until a patch is available.Exploit
