Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.58
Description:
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved, related to the ACPICA component. The issue arises from the
ACPI ALLOCATE ZEROED() function, which may return null, causing elements to be null and leading to a null pointer dereference later. This occurs in the acpi db convert to package() function.Recommendations:
For Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.58, update to version 6.6.58 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
acpi db convert to package() function until a patch is available. Avoid using the ACPI ALLOCATE ZEROED() function in sensitive operations until the issue is resolved.Exploit
