Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved, related to the igb driver. The issue occurred when processing transient non-fatal errors, causing the device to not be brought down by
igb io error detected() and resulting in a panic with a stacktrace. The igb io resume() function assumed the device was brought down if the interface was up, leading to the error. To fix this issue, igb io resume() now checks if the interface is running and the device is not down, meaning igb io error detected() did not bring the device down and there is no need to bring it up.Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
