Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved, related to the btrfs file system. The issue occurs when mounting a subvolume with different RO/RW flags, causing a null pointer dereference in the super block writeback. This happens because the option/features check is skipped during reconfiguration, leading to a restart of the v2 cache clearing and conversion back to v1 cache, triggering file system writes. The vulnerability is caused by the introduction of two workarounds to support mounting different subvolumes with different RO/RW flags for the new mount APIs.
Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
