Description:
The issue allows for Remote Code Execution as SYSTEM by exploiting Distributed Edition installations using a deserialization tool. The vulnerability exists in the main message processing routines, specifically in
NmDistributed.DistributedServiceBehavior.OnMessage for servers and NmDistributed.DistributedClient.OnMessage for clients.Recommendations:
For versions prior to 2023.1.3, update to version 2023.1.3 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
NmDistributed.DistributedServiceBehavior.OnMessage and NmDistributed.DistributedClient.OnMessage routines until a patch is applied.Fix
