Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.61
Description:
A memory leak has been identified in the Linux kernel, specifically in the wifi: ath10k module, during management packet TX. The memory allocated for storing the MSDU context is not being freed during management TX completion, resulting in a memory leak. Similar leaks are seen in the management TX cleanup logic. The issue has been reported by Kmemleak, which provides a backtrace of the problem.
Recommendations:
To resolve the issue, update to Linux kernel version 6.6.61 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
ath10k wmi tlv op gen mgmt tx send() function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the vulnerable ath10k core module to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the mgmt pending tx idr remove() operation in ath10k wmi tlv op cleanup mgmt tx send() until the issue is resolved.Exploit
