CVE-2024-5179

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions The Cowidgets – Elementor Addons plugin for WordPress version 1.1.1 and earlier
Description The issue allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access and above to include and execute arbitrary files on the server via the item style and style parameters. This enables the execution of any PHP code in those files, which can be used to bypass access controls, obtain sensitive data, or achieve code execution in cases where images and other “safe” file types can be uploaded and included.
Recommendations For versions up to and including 1.1.1, consider disabling the item style and style parameters until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to the plugin's functionality to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
