Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Huawei Matebook D16 version v2.26
Description
The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the SMRAM memory of Huawei personal computers' UEFI (BIOS) microprogram, which can allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code in System Management Mode (SMM). A malicious OS attacker can leverage this to corrupt arbitrary SMRAM memory, leading to code execution in SMM.
Recommendations
For Huawei Matebook D16 version v2.26, consider disabling the SMI Handler of the ThisiServicesSmm SMM module as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the SMRAM memory to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the
SMI Handler function in the affected SMM module until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Memory Corruption
