Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.65
Description
The issue is related to the Linux kernel, where a newly-added link type that doesn't invoke BPF LINK TYPE() can cause an out-of-bounds access when accessing bpf link type strs[link->type]. To address this, the validity of link->type in bpf link show fdinfo() is checked, and a warning is emitted when such invocations are missed.
Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.65, update to version 6.6.65 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the bpf link show fdinfo() function until a patch is available.
