Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to the
utf8 load() function in the Linux kernel, which requests the symbol "utf8 data table" and checks if the requested UTF-8 version is supported. If an unsupported version is requested, symbol put() fails, leading to a kernel bug. The problem occurs because symbol put() expects a unique string identifying the symbol, instead of a pointer to the loaded symbol. The estimated number of potentially affected devices worldwide is not available. There is no information about real-world incidents where this issue was exploited.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
