Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.12.0-rc4-00161-gae90f6a6170d
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel, specifically in the
device for each child() function. This issue can lead to a slab-use-after-free error, as reported by Syzbot. The vulnerability occurs when device unregister() is called in hci conn del sysfs() while an underlying reference counter is greater than 1, potentially causing a dangling pointer to a freed parent device.Recommendations
To resolve this issue, update the Linux kernel to a version that includes the fix for the use-after-free vulnerability in
device for each child(). As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the Bluetooth functionality until a patch is available.Exploit
