Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
WP Blog Post Layouts plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.1.3
Description
The WP Blog Post Layouts plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Local File Inclusion. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to include and execute arbitrary PHP files on the server, allowing the execution of any PHP code in those files. This can be used to bypass access controls, obtain sensitive data, or achieve code execution in cases where images and other “safe” file types can be uploaded and included.
Recommendations
For WP Blog Post Layouts plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.1.3, upgrade to a version higher than 1.1.3 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the plugin's functionality for users with Contributor-level access and above until a patch is available. Additionally, restrict the upload of PHP files and other executable code to minimize the risk of exploitation.
