CVE-2024-5567

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions BetheME theme for WordPress versions up to, and including, 27.5.5
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via SVG File uploads due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses the SVG file.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 27.5.5, update to a version later than 27.5.5 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to SVG file uploads for users with Contributor-level access and above until a patch is available. Additionally, restrict the execution of web scripts in pages that access SVG files to minimize the risk of exploitation.
