CVE-2024-5571

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions EmbedPress – Embed PDF, Google Docs, Vimeo, Wistia, Embed YouTube Videos, Audios, Maps & Embed Any Documents in Gutenberg & Elementor plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 4.0.1
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the url attribute within the plugin's EmbedPress PDF widget due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 4.0.1, update to a version higher than 4.0.1 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the EmbedPress PDF widget until a patch is available. Restrict contributor-level access and above to minimize the risk of exploitation.
