Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Tutor LMS Elementor Addons plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.1.4
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the
course carousel skin attribute within the plugin's Course Carousel widget. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes, making it possible for authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages. These scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.1.4, update to a version that includes the necessary input sanitization and output escaping to prevent Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Course Carousel widget for users with contributor-level access and above until a patch is available. Additionally, restrict the use of the
course carousel skin attribute to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
