Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Essential Addons for Elementor Pro plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 5.8.15
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the
eael lightbox open btn icon parameter within the Lightbox & Modal widget due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 5.8.15, update to a version later than 5.8.15 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Lightbox & Modal widget to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Avoid using the
eael lightbox open btn icon parameter in the affected widget until the issue is resolved.Fix
