CVE-2024-5628
CVSS v3.1
6.4
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Avada | Website Builder For WordPress & eCommerce plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.11.9
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's fusion button shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 3.11.9, update to version 3.11.10 to fully address the issue, as version 3.11.9 only partially fixes the vulnerability and additional hardening for alternate attack vectors was added in version 3.11.10. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the fusion button shortcode for users with contributor-level access and above until the update is applied.
Fix
