Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Simcenter Femap versions prior to V2406

Description A vulnerability has been identified that allows an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process by exploiting an out of bounds read past the end of an allocated structure while parsing specially crafted IGS files. This issue is related to a buffer overflow in memory when using the Parasolid Translator tool to convert files between different PS/IGES formats. The exploitation of this vulnerability can be achieved by opening specially crafted IGS files.

Recommendations For versions prior to V2406, update to version V2406 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of specially crafted IGS files and restricting access to the IGS file parsing functionality until a patch is applied.
