Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.74
Description
The issue is related to the Bluetooth functionality in the Linux kernel, specifically in the hci core component. It involves a failure to check the length of a socket buffer (skb) when processing an ACL data packet, which can lead to attempts to access uninitialized or invalid memory. This can occur when the code tries to access data past the valid skb->data boundary because it does not properly verify if the skb contains an ACL header.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 6.6.74, update to version 6.6.74 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling Bluetooth functionality until a patch is available. Restrict access to the hci acldata packet function to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the
skb variable in the affected code path until the issue is resolved.Exploit
